As its creator Gunter Pauli says, "we are going to do much more with what we already have and with a very positive impact!" Two examples are exploring sunlight to the limits as a sustainable energy source and as a means of communication and the ocean biome presenting its full potential for food security and sustainable energy source. Baixada Santista in the State of São Paulo is creating an embryo and a program, BLUE SANTOS, so that its grandchildren and great-grandchildren can be proud of this new reality and be able to live a new “well-being”! Los Líderes Azules son esenciales para transformar la Economía Azul de una visión inspiradora en acción coordinada, porque conectan conocimiento, instituciones, comunidades, empresas, inversionistas y políticas públicas alrededor de soluciones prácticas para el desarrollo sostenible basado en el océano. Brasil ya está ofreciendo un gran ejemplo a través de los programas que se están presentando a los miembros de la Blue Economy Platform en Fortaleza, Salvador, São Paulo y Santos: ciudades que, en conjunto, reflejan la diversidad costera del país, su capacidad de innovación, su fuerza portuaria y logística, su energía emprendedora y su compromiso con el cuidado del océano. Al llevar estos programas a distintas regiones, la Plataforma demuestra que la Economía Azul no es una agenda de un solo sector, sino un movimiento nacional capaz de generar empleos, proteger los ecosistemas marinos, fortalecer las economías locales y posicionar a Brasil como una referencia global en liderazgo oceánico sostenible.

Blue Leaders are essential to turning the Blue Economy from an inspiring vision into coordinated action, because they connect knowledge, institutions, communities, companies, investors, and public policy around practical solutions for ocean-based sustainable development. Brazil is already offering a powerful example through the hybrid programs being presented to Blue Economy Platform members in Fortaleza, Salvador, São Paulo, and Santos—cities that together reflect the country’s coastal diversity, innovation capacity, port and logistics strength, entrepreneurial energy, and commitment to ocean stewardship.
