El potencial productivo de un cultivo comienza en la siembra
La variabilidad de la distribución espacial de las plantas medida por el coeficiente de variación interfiere directamente en el rendimiento de grano del cultivo de maíz, y cuanto mayor sea este coeficiente, menor será el rendimiento. Por cada aumento del 1% en el coeficiente de variación de la distribución espacial de las plantas en la hilera, se produce una disminución de la productividad en el rango de 16 a 29 kg.ha-1.
